Little Nutbrown Hare Hat

Since we got The Call about the New Guy's arrival into this world, I have been planning a whole layette of baby handknits, but things like work, toddler, and getting homestudy paperwork done for the world's fastest adoption has kept me from doing much knitting. I even outsourced his baby blanket to my bestie, Amber. I have half a pair of longies done, but I really focused on getting a sweet little hat knit up for him to wear in the hospital and upon his arrival home to Minnesota.

Pattern: Little Nutbrown Hare by Sally Cameron
Materials: Tanis Fiber Arts Blue Label Fingering Weight in "Sand"; US Size 2 needles
Finished: February 23, 2013
Ravelry project page here (with errata I found in the pattern).

I made CJ a newborn hat too, but I did not anticipate that such a little nugget could have such a massive melon (99th percentile head, 9th percentile body at birth) and that hat BARELY fit him at birth. I learned my lesson with this hat, and made the 0-3 month size. It does look a little big to me, but babies grow, as I have discovered.

Thank you again to everyone for your well wishes! We are now just a few days away of being a family of four. I somehow always felt I would be a mom of two boys, but just never imagined it would happen this way...but I wouldn't change it for the world!

  2. Love the hat. The Nutbrown Hare's are favorites at the Monkeysoup house. Mack even wanted for the two of us to get matching Nutbrown Hare tattoos. I haven't ruled it out, but haven't ruled it in either.

Hope you all have a safe fun trip. Thinking of you all.
